Cliff House in Monteagle- Update.

Elevations and Section

Approach
Here are a couple of construction pictures of the house taking shape in Monteagle, Tennessee. I've also included a couple pictures of the site that give an indication of the view that will be enjoyed from the back of the house and the deck that will stretch along the full length. We have incorporated stain glass pieces that the owner is bringing from their former home in New Orleans. The house combines precedents which include Louisiana houses, mountain cabins and mining structures, hopefully combined into a cohesive form! We will provide updates as construction continues.

Forest Hills Home Under Construction

Here are a few construction photographs of a home we designed in Forest Hills, near Nashville Tennessee. Corner windows are utilized in several of the spaces to link them to the expansive yard and its localized views- the windows also light the house in interesting ways. We modified the house a bit from the rendering shown in order to reduce the overall width- and help us get approval from the Forest Hills Zoning Board. We will update as we near completion.

"Ranch Redo" in Forest Hills, Tennessee

Preliminary Schemes

We did an overhaul on a ranch-burger in Forest Hills, near Nashville, Tennessee. I'm actually a big fan of ranches- especially the so-called "Atom Ranches", but this one really didn't have a lot going for it except the expansive lot and excellent location. Here are a couple of preliminary sketches, "before" photographs and a couple of drive-by shots of the finished product. The client really got a lot for their budget by blowing off the roof and expanding upward.

Governor's Club Residence, Brentwood, Tennessee

I was invited over to a house that I designed several years ago in a golf club development called The Governor's Club. The new owners were very gracious to let me tour, re-aquaint myself with the plan, and take a few photographs. This was a very difficult hillside lot on a pie-shaped lot at the end of a cul-de-sac. I remember the review architect at the development saying that he thought the layout was among the most site-sensitive that he had seen- later, the same person referred to another design that I did as a "sow's ear" or something like that! One of my favorite rooms is a "music/reading" room that has a wavy wall and an inglenook fireplace. Anyway, here are a few photos. By the way, the contractor was Will Forte and he did a great job and was great to work with as well. This is his website: http://fortebuilding.com/
